Shelter Class

American Red Cross shelter training offered in the Snoqualmie Valley

Life in the valley can be subject to extreme weather conditions that can cause flooding, power outages, etc.  When these things happen the need for shelter-trained community members becomes evident.  In order to help citizens help themselves and others, this valuable training has become a regular part of Carnation-Duvall Citizen Corps offerings.  Sheltering classes are offered at least once a year to train our volunteers how to assist when we need to open shelters.

The day long training consists of two parts:

Shelter Fundamentals

This instructor-led course is designed for the learners to acquire knowledge of Red Cross policies and procedures for setting up, running and closing a shelter during a disaster.  The course includes lecture and group exercises.

Shelter Practical Exercise

This instructor-led simulation is designed for learners to acquire hands-on knowledge of Red Cross policies and procedures for setting up, running and closing a shelter during a disaster.

The classes will be offered again in the near future. If you would like to be advised of timing, please email Kathy Brasch info@cdccc.us
